Friends of the Schroon Lake Public Library
Who’s Who and Who Does What:
The Friends of the Schroon Lake Public Library, Inc. is a private, 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation chartered in and by New York State. We receive no federal or state funding and we do not engage in any lobbying or political activity. We were founded to support the Schroon Lake Public Library primarily through fundraising. The Officer and Directors of the Friends are all volunteers; there are no paid staff.
Although the Town of Schroon pays the salaries and benefits of Library employees, they do not provide funds for library programs or its collections of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, or most of its technology equipment. All funds for library collection, many of its programs, and most of its technology come entirely from the Friends’ fundraising efforts and contributions. Your contributions to the Friends directly affect whether that new book, magazine, or DVD you want is available or not..

Why the Friends?
The Friends of the Library was created to focus public attention on the Schroon Lake Library; to stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services; to receive and encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library; to support and cooperate with the library Board of Trustees and staff in developing services, programs and facilities for the community
