Schroon Lake Public Library
The use of the computer, equipment and the Internet Access is a privilege and should be used with care and respect.
Patrons must sign in at the circulation desk before use, and sign out when finished. Time is limited to 30 minutes. If no one is waiting, the Patron signs in again for another 30 minutes for a total of one hour per day.
Patrons can download information onto their flash drive.
Printing is available at a cost of $.20 per page for black and white printing and $.40 per page for color printing. This covers the cost of printing.
Web based e-mail is available.
Children under the age of 13 must have a signed permission slip on file to access the internet.
Use of chat rooms/groups is not allowed.
Patrons will have access to all free Internet sites, including graphical resources on the World Wide Web. However, as the Internet workstation display screen is in view of all patrons and staff, users are not permitted to display any visual images containing nudity, obscenity, or graphic violence. Any violation will result in permanent loss off Internet privileges at the library. Acceptability of screen displays will be left to the discretion of the supervising library staff.
Patrons are expected to obey the law and regulations in their application to copyright, licensed software, and data.

Wireless Internet Policy
Free wireless Internet access is available at the Schroon Lake Public Library.
Patrons must obtain the wireless passcode at the circulation desk. Passcodes may be changed at any time.
Power for devices is unavailable in the library; however, patrons that need power can plug in their devices in the meeting room on the lower level, provided the room is not in use.
The wireless Internet access we offer is unfiltered. By choosing to use this free service, you agree to abide by the Library’s Internet Policy. This policy states the limitations of Internet access, your responsibilities for using that access, and provides examples of acceptable and unacceptable uses.
The library’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent to and from your notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device may be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software.
Library staff are not able to provide technical assistance and no guarantee can be made that you will be able to make a wireless connection.
There is no cell phone use permitted in the Library. Patrons may not use their cell phones in conjunction with their laptop computers to conduct business in the Library. Cell phones may be used outside the building or in the lobby.
The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for notebook/laptop computer or other wireless device configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to the Library’s wireless access.
